Is the Fiber Optic material Glass or
Plastic ? |
| |
| Fiber optic
filament is manufactured in both a glass or plastic. The filament we
feature is 'plastic'. (Actually:
Polymethyl methacrylate Fluorinated Polymer, to be
accurate.)
|
| |
|
| Being
'plastic' has advantages: |
|
|
 |
The fibers are easier to work with in a hobby or star ceiling application
as the are more "forgiving" when they are bent. |
|
You'll learn what John is doing in this photo,
a bit later in the "FAQ's". But we can assure you that
what he's doing would NEVER work with GLASS fiber optic fibers!
