Our adventure involved building not one, but TWO Pinewood Derby cars for our annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby Races, The exciting part of this adventure was incorporating Fiber Optics into their design!
The first car, a Star Wars Battle of Endor themed car, was inspired by the star ceilings on your website and my son’s, Andrez, love of Star Wars.
The size and weight restrictions for Cub Scout races are “challenging” to say the least, but your 1000M series proved up to the challenge.
The car was hollowed out and 31 tiny holes were drilled (30 for stars and 1 for the Death Star’s laser).
The Death Star’s laser was colored green by using magic marker on the end of the cable.
The car finished Second Place and was selected for best design.
The tiger was sculpted from balsa wood and the jet engine was donated from one of my plastic model kits.
A lithium battery, used to save weight again, powered a 1000M-O to light the car.
Thanks for offering such great products to allow the boys and I to complete our projects.
