We’re thrilled that you’re here!
Let’s begin your journey into our world of fiber optics….
We start with our mission statement as it summarizes the quest of our site:
“To provide a superior resource of fiber optic information, ideas and quality products for the scale model enthusiast, creative craft maker and the star ceiling ‘do it yourself’ installer!”
Perhaps the best way to begin your education would be to have you visit the FAQ area of our site. There you will find an eclectic and ever expanding series of questions, on a multitude areas associated with fiber optics and our site. BTW, should you have a question that is not answered in the FAQ area, you can easily submit it to us by filling out the “I have a question form” at the bottom of the FAQ page.
All The Projects!
Another excellent path to learn more about fiber optics, is to view actual fiber optic projects that have been submitted by some of our awesome customers. Choose “PROJECTS” from the menu bar above, then click on any one of the categories. As you view the various projects, keep in mind that the person who contributed the project was once a fiber optic newbie ~ just like you!
While our site is relatively simple to navigate, you’ll soon discover that there is a ton of content, projects and products. One of the quickest ways to find what your looking for is to use the “Search this website” search box that is embedded on the right side of the upper menu bar. This is a very robust, full site search – it is however very text specific. With that in mind, we suggest using just a word or two to enable the search, as opposed to full complete sentences. For example, if your looking for how fiber optics were used in the Star Wars droid R2D2 – Rather than searching “Fiber Optics in R2D2” (which yields nothing in the search) try: “R2D2” – when you do that search, Dave Lockwood’s R2D2 project comes up. 🙂
If your someone who learns best by actually touching and working with something, then we’d suggest ordering one of our Hobby Spool Fiber Optic Combo Packs – as you’ll see, we offer several options. You’ll need a light source to illuminate the fiber optic filament. As you learned in our FAQ area, you can use pretty much any light source. If you don’t have one handy, we’d suggest that you add one of our 1000M’s to your shopping cart.
As we said at the beginning, we’re glad that you’re here! Enjoy exploring our site ~ we hope you find it helpful and inspiring. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments!
