Simon “Papa Smurf” Mercs ~ Talented, unique and often quirky, this professional model craftsman has an incredible resume of phenomenal ‘builds’. To that, we are honored to share one of his classics ~ the 1/350 Star Ship Enterprise.
SIMON: This 1/350 Star Ship Enterprise TV prop reproduction measured over 36 inches in length, and was detailed by reference material gathered from the web, and Smithsonian institute’s reproduction images.
Stereo sound effects in sync with the Phaser fire, gave the Phaser effect a true feel of realism.
Interior lighting, Warp Engine effects, fully detailed Shuttle Bay, and armed with two 1/4 watt blue lasers.
An extensive portion of miniature lighting effects, throughout the Interior, and especially in the detailed Shuttle Bay, the tiny Shuttle, and many of colored effects, like the exterior Rear Bay “Neons”, were done with End Glow Single Strand Fiber Optics, illuminated by attached LED’s.
Tiny ‘spotlight’ effects were added, to illuminate the Enterprise’s Hull from below, creating a dramatic effect.
The case, recreated faithfully in the style of instrument panels, seen in the hit 60’s TV show.
Encased in a laser etched display case, which allowed access to the numerous controls, this was a stunning display!
