Model Railroad enthusiast Guss Cloward, gives his ‘police truck at work’ scene that realistic “wow!” factor by incorporating some fiber optic filament.
GUSS: “This is 1:160 ( N scale ) model railroad scenery. After finding this police truck with roll bar and brush guard blanks, I drilled out the sockets then fed and glued fiber optic filament into the holes.
I came across a set of blinking LED lights from a grocery store display. The LEDs were drilled to accommodate the fiber optic filament, then AC glued into place below the module deck.
This project took about 2 weeks, drilling the holes in the truck, the LEDs and module deck, then mounting the LEDs and fiber optic filament below the deck in a protective box.
The most challenging part was to get the fiber optic filament from the light sockets, thru the truck body and plywood deck down to the LEDs.”
Below is the “How To Video” where Guss steps you through his project.
