Where should I place the star illuminator?

The closer you can place the illuminator to the actual ceiling, the less fiber you will require. Most of our customers have found that an optimal location is above the ceiling. (In the case of an installation in a suspended ceiling). Our illuminators may be mounted both horizontally or vertically on the joists. Keep in mind that you will need to have an electrical outlet, and if possible, it should be a switched outlet.

You’ll also need to meet the minimum clearance requirements of the illuminator for proper ventilation. If above the ceiling location does not work for your application, consider adding a small shelf or placing the unit inside a closet and running the fibers through the wall.
